“Fast track” was commissioned for the 2012 Archstoyanie (Архстояние) landscape art festival. It is both an installation and an integral part of the festival infrastructure. Salto Architects built the 51-metre long trampoline as a site-specific installation that stretched across a field and connected different parts of the festival grounds. It challenges the concept of infrastructure that only focuses on technical and functional aspects and tends to ignore its surroundings. “Fast track” is an attempt to create intelligent infrastructure that nurtures positive emotions and corresponds to the local context. It gives pedestrians a new experience of moving and perceiving the environment. It serves as a unique walking path which could make standard concrete sidewalks a thing of the past. The innovative sidewalk will certainly prompt walkers to be aware of their surroundings. The constant hopping prompted by the trampoline surely makes walking a lot more exciting.

Archstoyanie is a landscape art festival that is held yearly in the village of Nikola-Lenivets in Kaluga oblast, Russia. It provides its participants with a chance to design and construct objects that wouldn’t be feasible in an urban context.
