Open House Tallinn 2022

The architectural event Open House Tallinn takes place on 15–16 October for the fourth time. The event, which opens the doors of nearly 30 special buildings and places in the Estonian capital for one weekend, comes to life thanks to the cooperation between volunteers, architectural experts, building managers and residents-tenants.

This year’s Open House Tallinn tours invite you to discover several cultural institutions such as the Estonia Theatre and Kultuurikatel Creative Hub, but also the renovated – or still awaiting construction – former factory complexes in Krull’s quarter, Lurich Building and Põhjala Factory. One can also peek behind the curtains of power as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is waiting for visitors. Unexpectedly, you can find yourself in a container hotel or a bomb shelter converted into a museum. In addition, the architecture weekend takes those interested on hikes to Hundipea district, Patarei Sea Fortress and Tallinn’s Upper Lighthouse.

Tours that do not require registration are free for all – visitors just need to show up –, but some places need pre-registration with the ticket fee of 1 €. Tours fill up quickly, so it’s a good idea to get tickets as soon as possible. Tours are held in Estonian, English and Russian.

Open House is a global event series that aims to introduce and invite the public to a specific city’s exciting public buildings and cityscapes. Open House Tallinn is organized by Estonian Centre for Architecture and our partners include the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, the City of Tallinn, Estonian Ministry of Culture, British Council, Ruukki and Velux.
