This elegant yet modest apartment building opposite St. Charles’ Church is by Jüri Okas and Marika Lõoke, architects with a heroic background as some of the leading artists-architects of 1970’s resistance culture. Since the 1990s, they have earned a reputation for their minimalist buildings executed in a perfectionist manner. In a similar vein, this building does not cry out for special attention but rather defines itself as an equal, neutral player within the urban whole. The eight floors tall building houses 92 apartments, and those facing the street have balconies with sliding glass shutters that carefully isolate street noise.
